ABOUT THE CHARITIES
Located in the heart of downtown Las Vegas, The Mob Museum is an immersive experience exploring the ongoing power struggle between organized crime and law enforcement from the Mob’s origination to today.
Through vivid storytelling, guests are presented with the facts, the fiction and the gray area in between — showcasing the events and characters that played an integral (and infamous) role in U.S. history.
The Mob Museum’s mission is to advance the public understanding of organized crime’s history and impact on American society. It is also guided by its five Core Values: Commitment to Community, Bold Thinking, People Driven, Taking Responsibility, and Thrive. Furthering its mission and Core Value principles, the Museum’s education outreach program was launched in January 2016, with the help of Centennial Commission funding and other partnerships.
The Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center (The Center) was established in 1983 at the height of the AIDS crisis to provide a safe and affirming place for LGBTQ+ New Yorkers to respond to the urgent threats facing the community. Over the past 40 years, The Center has grown to meet the changing needs of New York’s LGBTQ+ community, delivering services that empower people to lead healthy, successful lives.
Their mission is Empowering LGBTQ+ people and building a strong community. New York City’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual & Transgender Community Center empowers people to lead healthy, successful lives. The Center celebrates diversity and advocates for justice and opportunity.
At The Center, we work to ensure our values are reflected in each of our programs and policies, in our culture, and in our decisions.
The Center acknowledges that certain communities have been historically neglected or harmed by racism, transphobia, sexism, and poverty. This includes LGBTQ+ people who are Black, Indigenous, people of color (BIPOC), transgender, poor/working-class, living with HIV/AIDS, immigrants, and/or youth. The Center centers these communities in all of their work and remain committed to serving all members of the LGBTQ+ community.
